Lincoln Hall Tickets Now Available

Photobucket

Greg Kot gave us a preview of new venue Lincoln Hall last August over on his Tribune blog, and now tickets have finally been released for sale for upcoming shows at this Schubas-born venue, located at 2424 N Lincoln Ave. According to LincolnHallChicago.com, Langhorne Slim, Jay Farrar & Ben Gibbard, Neon Indian, and Detholz! will all be gracing the stage before the end of the month. For November, they've got Vic Chestnutt, Numero's Eccentric Soul Review, Art Brut, The Walkmen, Ari Hest, Flobots, and others listed for dates. The first show listed on the website is electropop duo La Roux on October 21st, but no word yet on whether that will be the official first show at the venue. Be sure to check out their Facebook and Twitter for further updates. All tickets are available to purchase online here.

As of right now, the only show it appears you can buy tickets for is the La Roux show. Does the lack of a "buy" button indicate the other shows are sold out, or that they just aren't on sale yet?

Hmm. When I checked the site last night, the October dates were up for sale but not November, if I remember correctly. Could have been site issues then or now... I did not try to purchase tickets for any dates so I cannot say for certain. It's doubtful that the shows are sold out, though.

Tickets for most of the shows will be going on sale Friday according to the Reader's Early Warnings. So, you should see more "Buy" buttons then. Also, Lincoln Hall's website suggests that they will be open for dinner possibly even before they have any shows. Currently the first show listed is on Oct. 15 and it's Mike Doughty: The Question Jar Show. They have been updating the site a lot over the last couple of days, so who knows what the first show will actually be or when will officially be open. We will have to wait to see.

She's Money

By Kara Luger

When talking musical influences with Helen Money, it's easy to forget her instrument of choice: cello. She references Bob Mould's Beaster, with its wall of sound and intense, thought-obliterating guitar work. She speaks of The Who and all the crazy rock bands she was exposed to in the '80s. "The stuff I like sounds like life or death," she reasons. And this coming from a woman with a picture of Jimi Hendrix taped to her cello case like he's a saint.
