Friday Quick Links
Here's what we're also reading on the interwebs lately:
- Pitchfork, the restaurant opens this week. Nothing to do with the music site, but bring on the jokes!
- Perry Farrell and his wife Etty go on about what they love about Chicago. Answer: steak, fish, and art.
- Alarm mag has a review of a Metalocalypse-sponsored show at the Aragon last week.
- Download a track put together by The Cool Kids and Hey Champ. Two Chicago groups just rife with buzz.
- The Deli Chicago has the line on a cool event called "The Drop" at the Viaduct Theatre where bands drop off their CDs. New local music exposure ensues in coordination with WLUW. The next one is tomorrow night.
- Greg Kot reviewed the Wilco shows at UIC Pavilion.
- Speaking of Wilco, seems Jeff and Mikael like the hockey. (via)
- Songs:Illinois previewed Michigan band Orpheum Bell.
- Live Music Blog has some interesting things to say about Web 2.0 and music blogs.
- The Old Town School of Folk Music hosts Laurence Juber (of Wings fame) for a Martin Guitar Clinic. FREE 10/27.
- A screening of You Weren't There: A History of Chicago Punk 1977-1984 takes place this Saturday at the Portage Theatre. The DVD releases next week!
