Review: Miike Snow @ Metro 4/4

Due to high demand, the electro-pop Trio from Stockholm, Sweden, Miike Snow, added a second show at Metro Sunday night with Delorean and Light Pollution joining them. Even as their second Chicago show, they still managed to sell over 800 tickets to an all ages crowd — Metro holds 1,100 — on a very rainy Easter Sunday.

I hopped in the barricade a few minutes before their set began and chatted with Metro employee, Joel, who was working stage security, "What's up with the bubbles," he said- looked up, and pointed up to the right balcony, "That girl has been standing there blowing bubbles the entire night."

I noticed the fog creeping slowly across the stage, and then the bluish stage lights dimmed into black, and the house music that had been playing between sets died out. The dark curtain on the stage had a large, white decal of Jackalope and members of Miike Snow came out wearing white hockey masks and black, vinyl jackets.

They have been compared to Animal Collective and TV on the Radio, which I can see because of the upbeat vibe and sound. Miike Snow is touring the United States until October this year, so if dance-pop is your thing, don't miss out on their shows.

Miike Snow is Christian Karlsson, Pontus Winnberg, Andrew Wyatt. They have remixed songs by Peter Bjorn and John, Kings of Leon, and Vampire Weekend, and have worked with other artists such as Madonna, Kylie Minogue, and Britney Spears — who in 2005, they won a Grammy for Best Dance Recording for the track "Toxic." Their self-titled album came out in May of 2009 by Downtown Records --- Their singles "Animal" and "Plastic Jungle" were played in episodes of the TV-series Gossip Girl as well as MTV's The Buried Life.

Set List:

1. Intro
2. Cult Logic
3. Burial
4. Black and Blue
5. A Horse is not a Home
6. Silvia (into Plastic Jungle)
7. Sans Soleil
8. Rabbit
9. Animal
