Chicago Musicians Called to Bear Down
"Bear Down," the fight song for our beloved Chicago football team, was written some 70 years ago. Meaning, none of the current Chicago bears players or coaches were even alive when the song first came to be. In fact, I'd be willing to bet most of you reading this weren't alive in 1941 either. This can only mean one thing: It's time for a makeover.
Chicago Bears' safety Chris Harris is urging fans to tackle this makeover sooner rather than later. The "'Bear Down' Fight Song Contest 2.0" urges Chicago musicians to record a remake of the famous fight song in any style or genre that they see fit. Harris will then pick the best version and the winner(s) will receive tickets to Dec. 26's Bears vs. Jets game and the opportunity to have their remake professionally recorded at Chicago's Rax Trax Recording Studio.
