The-Drum & Supreme Cuts Hunt The Great White Melville House Party
The literature publishing house with the greatest ratio of edutainment blog posts vs difficult web 3.0 page design, Melville House is turning 10. As a reflection of their genre pushing publishing schedule the birthday publisher booked The-Drum and Supreme Cuts, two of Chicago's most adept blenders of musical tropes and added an unknown quantity of author readings. The whole literary/dance shebang will be going down at the Stop Smiling storefront on Friday March 2.
The-Drum and Supreme Cuts have shaken dancefloors with their mix of slinky utopian r&b, space elevator atmospheric dubstep, and Chicago juke style body controlling nanobot percussion. This is the music you tried to describe to your girl, boy, zee, or android lover from the future on the phone after you read Samuel R Delany's post-modern classic Dhalgren and watched Hackers* on the same night.
Melville House hasn't announced the authors who will be doing readings yet but given their history of publishing books that leap from the last interview of Kurt Vonnegut, to the history of the vocoder, to steampunk adventures it'll be a diverse lot.
The Melville House 10th Anniversary Party with music by The-Drum and Supreme Cuts will be at the Stop Smiling storefront located at 1371 N. Milwaukee Ave. Doors are at 9PM and admission is free.
*(Time traveling shout out to Hackers era Angelina Jolie. No girl, I can't tell you what your future holds.)
