SXSW 2012 Tour Diary: Jip Jop, Day 4 and a Wrap Up

sxsw2012.jpgWe had some technical difficulties, but here's the final day of tour diary from Jip Jop, and some photos from a few impromptu shows to remember. Guess the old rule rings true — it's not a good party, till the police show up.

Day 4

Hello from Austin! Our second show brought the house down (almost literally) with police coming to stop all the commotion. We followed a couple of great bands from Berklee School of Music — Canary and Against Atlas.

Seeing some of our favorite artists has been a major highlight of the trip. SBTRKT (below), Terror Pigeon, and Deerhoof to name a few...

An impromptu street performance turned into an impromptu street party. We had some trepidations of performing in the open on a corner but we were so well received that we wondered why we hadn't thought about it before! It was an amazing way to feel the pulse and essence of Austin with everyone stopping on a whim to hear great music, dance, and support a new band they never heard of. The sidewalk resembled the street: traffic. Special shout out to Tris McCall at NJ.com who voted Jip Jop the "Best Random Encounter at SXSW!" Check out the article here: SXSW: Some non - Springsteen Notables.

Thanks to our brothers from Ninjasonik for an amazing show and VIP treatment backstage at the Massappeal soundstage show. Our last performance on Austin's infamous 6th Street was a great success, and brought an amazing week to a close.

After a great week, an exhausted Jip Jop returns to Chicago feeling fulfilled and inspired. SXSW will definitely see us again!
