Contest: Alcoholic Faith Mission @ Schubas!
Ask Me This is Alcoholic Faith Mission's 4th album and it's all over the map, in a good way; from beautiful multi-part harmonies to synth-driven noise to prog-pop to earworming folk across. And that's just the first half. It's difficult to listen to Ask Me This without thinking at random points, "I could hear how this would be on a [Field Music/Dungen/Other Lives] album." Yet through that melange is a consistently grandiose aesthetic and moments of brilliance, such as the quirky "Into Pieces" or "We Need Fear", which could be like a dark and frenetic Sufjan Stevens track.
