The Hood Internet Remixes Sleep Out & Lasers and Fast and Shit
The Hood Internet is releasing FEAT, an album of all-original material, on Decon Records Sept. 18, but that doesn't mean they've given up doing mashups and remixes. The duo dropped remixes of songs by two local bands today, the day before they leave for an eight-date West Coast tour with Psalm One and Tanya Morgan.
Lasers and Fast and Shit's "Cat Fight USA" gets electronicized, with a clean dance groove that isolates the aggressive lyrics and smooths out the transitions.
The Hood Internet turn down the reverb on shoegazers Sleep Out's "Ether Ore" and slow it down just a tad, while also adding a repeating hip hop sample and a little more synth -- somehow making it even more shoegazey.
Both bands will be performing this week. Sleep Out is celebrating the release of their first album in four years, Black Cat Found, with a show at The Burlington tonight, while Lasers and Fast and Shit will be performing on Sunday, July 29 at Wicker Park Fest.
If you're interested in hearing a little of the new Hood Internet album, Rolling Stone has a track off it. "Won't Fuck Us Over" features BBU and Annie Hart of Au Revoire Simone -- as well as Hart's infant son.
