Shiloh Announce Pre-Order/Instant Digital Download for New Album Mrs.
Local "scum-pop" band Shiloh will release its second full-length album, Mrs., early next year on a limited edition turquoise cassette courtesy of Nashville label Rhed Rholl Recordings. But for those who can't wait that long to hear more of the band's unpredictable garage-folk--or for those who lack a tape deck--Rhed Rholl has offered a preview of the album's first three tracks, as well as a pre-order for the physical cassette that allows access to an instant digital download of those three tracks. The physical cassette will also include a download code for the rest of the album.
Shiloh has previewed a handful of other new tracks from Mrs. in their recent live performances, and from the looks of things, the album is set to be a significant improvement on top of 2011's still-very-good debut All My Friends Are Going to Be Strangers. If anything, the band has pared down its sound to the basics, focusing on a slightly heavier folkiness on tracks such as the opener, "Midwestern Sigh", while others venture off into more subdued but subtly complex guitar work evoking an early Built to Spill.
According to the Chicago Reader, Shiloh recorded the songs for Mrs. at Handwritten Recording in Lakeview. Mrs. is set for an official physical release on February 5.
