City of Chicago's SXSW Show Shut Down
The Chicago Made music showcase at South By Southwest was shut down by the fire marshal early Wednesday morning, with officials indicating the number of people in the venue exceeded its maximum capacity.
The event's headliner, Chance the Rapper, abruptly stopped his performance and informed the audience the event was being shut down.
While some concert-goers chanted angrily and refused to leave at first, the venue was apparently cleared without any major incidents.
A police officer on the scene said the maximum capacity of the venue, Red 7 in Austin, is 200, and the fire marshal "stopped counting at 300."
This is a developing story and we will share more details as they become available.
