Concert Fri Aug 03 2007
This weekend, you MUST turn off the TiVo and the air conditioner and GET OUT TO SHOWS
It's official - Chicago just managed to stuff two weeks worth of killer entertainment into three nights. It's been like that a lot lately.
On Friday, you must make a choice - will you go to Enemy (1550 N. Milwaukee Ave) at 9 p.m. and pay $5 to see Social Junk (from Ashland, Kentucky), Unseen|Unknown, and Abduction (both from Chicago); OR, will you go to Hotti Biscotti (3545 W. Fullerton) and pay nothing at the door to see a cavalcade of dancey, costumey, droney, weirdness from the likes of William Sides Atari Party, EaVil, The Buoyant Sea, David Diarreah, Hate Moms, and others? Well, what say you? It's a win-win answer, but you still must choose.
Saturday, no choice is required - you must count yourself amongst the living at the Flower Shop (2159 W. 21st Place, Pilsen) for a collision of awesome from St. Louis, Michigan, and Illinois. Bands include Worm Hands and Mike Pitts (St. Louis), weirding you out just by BEING; Haunted Castle (Michigan) teaming up with Illinois newcomer Treetops; and Chicago's own Druids of Huge, on hand to raise bodies 3.5 inches above the concrete floor.
Get some sleep, rest up, and then come back to ye olde Flower Shop again Sunday night for a relentless power electronic attack! Halflings and Cathode Terror Secretion, from New England, are unstoppable masses of death-ray feedback and razor-wire-sharp vocal attacks; they play for your destruction along with locals Abduction (featuring Neil Jendon, ex-Zelienople) and Jason Soliday. Bring friends, and especially, bring any enemies you'd like vaporized.
After all this brain-frying goodness in such a short span of time, you'll be lucky if you can look your co-workers in the eyes by next Thursday!
