Skybox Brings Various Kitchen Utensils to SubT for Thanksgiving Eve
The folks at Subterranean are smart. They know if they're going to get a crowd in on Thanksgiving Eve they should probably go after those who will be dining here over the feast filled holiday. They also know that to get people out that night they'd better book a pretty exciting show.
Maybe something involving dancing Pilgrims? Something celebrating various kitchen utensils? Well isn't it lucky we have a band like Skybox right here in town to fit the the bill! This Wednesday they're playing a 17+ show promoted by the video below, dancing pilgrims included.
Thanksgiving Celebration: 11/26 @ Subterranean
For the show itself the band has been threatening to do things up right for Thanksgiving eve. Perhaps they'll even go beyond the Pilgrim and Indian options and opt for dressing as drumsticks and cornstalks. One way or another, it's sure to be a festive night.
Back in Phoenix, AZ Skybox was well known for their cabaret style performances. Their sets would be punctuated as much by the variety of their musical styles as by their creativity and willingness to entertain their fans. It took the band a while to feel out the expectations their new Chicago audience had of them. But they have been here since April of 2006 and show no signs of leaving.
As Tim Ellis the band's front man said "We like the culture, how [Chicago] is a real hard working place." Skybox has enjoyed the cross pollination of the city's rich music scene. The diversity of the city as a whole, as well as the folks they see in front of them from up on stage, has kept the band creative and creating. This past summer saw Skybox back in the studio recording another album. There's no working title to be shared yet, but the finishing touches are being taken care of.
Skybox plays with Pool of Frogs and Netherfriends. Doors are early at 8pm. Tickets $8.
