Holdfast EP Release Show @ Reggie's

Sure there are loads of great shows tonight celebrating NYE, but the music doesn't stop in 2011! Tomorrow, Jan. 1, Reggie's Rock Club will be showcasing a few of Chicago's newest residents of the local indie scene.

The show kicks off at 6pm--giving you plenty of time to rouse yourself from your post-New Years slumber and grab some greasy hangover food first--with Monster Armed With Scissors. MAWS's music is almost as diverse as the band's instrumental repertoire including mandolin, trumpet, and accordion. For the most part, MAWS mix a classic midwestern indie rock sound with a tinge of folk and the result is certainly refreshing. Keeps your eyes and ears out for a MAWS full-length in early 2011.

Holdfast, a perfect blend of indie rock and bubblegum pop, will be rounding out the night in celebration of their new EP Like the Sun, which will be available at the show. Holdfast have gained plenty of buzz throughout Chicago during their short existence, even snagging an opening spot at last year's Fest, hosted by DePaul University in Lincoln Park. How many Chicago indie rockers can say that they opened for Ludacris? My guess is not many. But, all bragging rights aside, Holdfast are quickly gaining momentum throughout the local music scene, so I advise you catch them now before they blow up!

Also playing tomorrow night are Goodnight City Lights (from Cleveland) and locals The Handsome Bandit and Pisces at the Animal Fair. The show is all ages and starts at 6pm (doors at 5pm). Tickets are $8 in advance, $11 at the door. Reggie's Rock Club is located at 2109 S. State St.
