Preview: Tonight Modeselektor Drops Dance Science!
Tonight a grand science experiment will be conducted in The Metro. After the Record Store Day pop-up has packed up astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson will not make an appearance but a swarm of German technocrats will begin assembling an immersive sound and light display. Tonight the whimsical euro-crunk bass masters from Berlin, Modeselektor will cram their festival grade Coachella weathered show full of into The Metro.
Modeselektor is the best bros forever duo of Gernot Brosert and Sebastian Szary who in the far away days of the mid 90s met in school and began their subwoofer-rattling voyage together. Modeselektor's method by the Voltroning of the tangible and elusive into club bangers has won them accolades from Thom Yorke, Bjork, and Ellen Allien. For the first ten years of their working relationship Modeselektor lived a musical life between genre-towns. They were too straightforward for the IDM/outside music professors and had too many sonic alleyways and twists for the club scene. In 2006 the mainstream stared to catch on. Modeselektor recorded a collaboration with long time fan Thom Yorke. Then came Bjork remixes for "The Dull Flame of Desire". Then in Modeselektor won the Best Dubstep & Grime Record of 2008-9 from Beatport.
Modeselektor plays The Metro on April 21st. Abstract Science DJs and Egyptrixx open. The show starts at 8 pm. Tickets are $25. 18+ The Metro is located at 3730 N. Clark.
