Stars Align: Mike Maimone and Archie Powell
Frontmen Mike Maimone of MUTTS and Archie Powell of Archie Powell & the Exports are known for their heavy, raucous rock, but they're turning it down from 11 to join forces for one night only.

Maimone and Powell are coming together as part of Stars Align, our series that brings up-and-coming local artists together for a unique night of collaboration. For die-hard music fans it's a chance to see songs performed in a new light. And for people new to the scene it's an intimate way to get to know some local acts.
The results should be interesting. Archie Powell's songs are equal parts pop, rock and Malört, typically served in performances so high-energy they border on out-of-control. Mike Maimone's piano-fueled, gritty rock is rooted in the blues and thoughtful lyricism, and feels huge on stage even though the band is only a three-piece.
The inaugural Stars Align featured Stanton McConnell of Santah and Jim Drake of Jaime Rojo, who played stripped-down versions their own material, re-imagined versions each other's songs, and some timeless covers.
We think the results are pretty magical, so be sure to catch Mike Maimone and Archie Powell at the next Stars Align on Thursday, Nov. 20 at 7:30pm at the GMan Tavern, 3740 N. Clark St. Tickets are free, and the event is 21+, featuring beer on tap from our sponsor Begyle Brewing. RSVP on Facebook.
