Pitchfork Interview: Ryan Graveface
If your unfamiliar with Ryan Graveface, you're missing out on some incredible music. Besides being a key member of bands like The Marshmallow Ghosts, Dreamend, Black Moth Super Rainbow, and The Casket Girls, Graveface also who runs two of the most interesting record labels currently out there: the eclectic Gravefave Records and the obscure horror soundtrack focused Terror Vision Records. He also has a Graveface Records and Curiosities shop in Savannah, Georgia and is trying to expand into another store in Austin, Texas. There is no time wasted with this man and the world is all the better for that.
I stopped by the Graveface booth at the Chirp Record Fair at Pitchfork Musical Festival this weekend and even though our conversation came close to 18 minutes long, we barely scratched the surface of everything he has going on. We delved into to all things Graveface, talking about the quandaries of running two record labels, the state of vinyl pressing, passion projects, and more. Listen to the two parts below and check out some of the essential music he is putting out.
