Don't Miss Stars Align with Makaya McCraven and Shane Parish

Join us for the next installment of our concert series Stars Align with a collaboration between two International Anthem artists, drummer Makaya McCraven and guitarist Shane Parish (Ahleuchatistas). Both McCraven and Parish are powerful improvisers, so this is sure to be a unique performance you don't want to miss.

McCraven, called one of Chicago's most "in-demand drummers" by the Reader, seamlessly shifts from jazz in one breath to hip hop or house in the next. He's an experienced collaborator, so it'll be exciting to see what he comes up with while he's paired up with Parish.

Parish, both in his solo work and as part of Ahleuchatistas, brings the drive and intensity of rock to a swelling, flowing songwriting style. He's no stranger to improvisation either, so it'll be fun to see what happens when these two musical forces collide.

Both McCraven and Parish have new recordings out on International Anthem Recording Co., so they're sure to riff of of some of those works, as well as some other originals and cover songs as well. This Stars Align is a prefect opportunity to hang out, enjoy some great beer and craft cocktails, and maybe even expand your musical horizons.

You'll also get a chance to hear from the artists when our new emcee Alex Ward (The Noise FM) gets them to riff a bit about music, life, pet peeves, or whatever you'd like to hear about (let us know on Facebook).

We think its stripped-down, intimate setting is one of the best in the city, and thanks to our sponsors at Begyle Brewing, the show is still free. What more could you ask for?

So join us the next time the Stars Align, Wednesday, November 11 at 9pm at The Whistler, 2421 N Milwaukee Ave. Let us know you're coming (and tell your friends!)
