Permit Description: Wreck & remove 1 story brick residence.
Status: Demolition permit issued 2/17/2012
Like many recent Englewood demolitions, this single-family house is a victim of the mortgage crisis. It was purchased as investment property when last sold for $45,000 on July 13, 2007 and was foreclosed on by Community Bank of Lemont on December 30, 2010. By that time, it had already been reported vacant and open by a 311 call. Two subsequent 311 calls about the building being open and vacant were made on April 15 and June 25, 2011.
Over the course of 2012 David Schalliol produced a photographic portrait of 100 of the hundreds of buildings threatened with demolition in the city of Chicago. Nearly all of the buildings have since been demolished. Visit the background information section for more information about the project, including definitions and links to other building resources.
The series is supported by a generous grant from the Richard H. Driehaus Foundation.
