Chicago Historic Resources Survey: Not included [?]
Year: 1930
Architect: Unlisted
Owner: City of Chicago
Permit Description: Wreck & remove 4 story brick building.
Status: Demolition permit issued 3/08/12
The entire 13,500 square foot building was listed for sale for $75,000 after undergoing foreclosure proceedings in 2010 and 2011. The listing details tell a great deal of the story:
The building interior shows signs of long-term neglect, including serious material stripping and water damage. Still, while the building warranted a 311 call for its open and derelict status earlier this year on January 5, its only other record in the 311 system was for an unspecified sanitation violation on October 17, 2011.
Over the course of 2012 David Schalliol produced a photographic portrait of 100 of the hundreds of buildings threatened with demolition in the city of Chicago. Nearly all of the buildings have since been demolished. Visit the background information section for more information about the project, including definitions and links to other building resources.
The series is supported by a generous grant from the Richard H. Driehaus Foundation.
