To be Demolished

10211 S. Commercial Ave.

Chicago Historic Resources Survey: Not included [?]
Year: 1962
Architect: Unlisted
Owner: City of Chicago
Permit Description: Wreck and remove 1 story brick commercial building.
Status: Demolition permit issued 3/02/2012

This modern industrial building appears to have entered the foreclosure process several times in the last few years, most recently in 2011. There were three graffiti removal requests prior to the foreclosure activity in 2011 -- January 7, March 2 and April 12 -- and one vacant building call that indicated the building was open and in use by others.

About the series

Over the course of 2012 David Schalliol produced a photographic portrait of 100 of the hundreds of buildings threatened with demolition in the city of Chicago. Nearly all of the buildings have since been demolished. Visit the background information section for more information about the project, including definitions and links to other building resources.

The series is supported by a generous grant from the Richard H. Driehaus Foundation.
